Left Medina after visiting the farmers market. Purchased 2lbs of ground beef. Beautiful day, a few clouds along the way. Lots of bridges and no locks!
Holley had a very nice port front, but the town did not have much to offer. Most of the stores were closed and out of business. We enjoyed walking to the falls. The view was spectacular!
Sep 1 - Brockport NY
Stayed in Brockport overnight. Brian enjoyed icecream. We met Jim and Sara. They are travelling the canal by bicycle and staying in tents. Jim shared a morning coffee with me.
Sep 2/3 - Brockport NY to Pittsford NY
Covered through 2 locks with little problem. Locks are still not my favourite things to do. Terry and I handle the lines and fending the boat off the walls and Brian steers us in.
On the way to Pittsford, we crossed the Genesee and grounded shortly after crossing. Thankfully it was a soft grounding and we were able to work our way free.
That evening, Terry took us out for supper at Alladin's (Greek and Lebanese cuisine). We all ordered the Greek Gyro salad. It was delicious!
Pittsford is a great stop with electricity and a library with WIFI close by. Unfortunately no washrooms/showers at this port.

For some reason, I still had energy so decided to make homemade gnocchi and pasta sauce.
We filled the Jerry cans at a local gas station that was within walking distance and put one into the tank. The boat's tank is now 3/4 full and should be fine until we get to the next marine diesel stop. These are very far apart on the canal and some do not accommodate our deep draft.
Sep 4 - Pittsford NY to Newark NY
Sep 4 - Pittsford NY to Newark NY
Left Pittsford at 9am and continued east. We went through two more locks and under quite a few bridges. Along the way, we hit something in 10 feet of water that gave us quite a scare. It didn't stop the boat but there was a loud bang. The rudder didn't shake so it was only the keel that hit. A quick check showed nothing at the keel bolts. We suspect a sunken log as we've come across quite a few floaters on this leg.
Once in Pittsford, we tied up at the free docks. This is a great place with showers, washrooms and Free WIFI. There are even a washing machine and dryer for the use of the boaters for free. There were several unique boats here.
We stayed an additional day here and managed to get some item's crossed off our list of chores. I did the laundry and baked a peach/pineapple pumpkin bread. Brian walked to a local service station and had the propane tank filled. We also re-enforced our mainsail cover which had developed some failures and fashioned a rain cover for the front hatch.
Tomorrow is a short trip to Clyde, after which we have several long days ahead.
