Hooker on weed in the Pool!

We picked up Brian's mom, sister, and great-nephew Liam in Little Current and sailed to Heywood and stayed for a couple of days. Once anchored we swam and fished and had a lot of fun. Late afternoon, Jason, Cindy and Jason son arrived from Sarnia on their Pearson 42. His son and Liam were the same age so they became friends quickly.

The next morning we all sailed back to Little Current in the rain and said farewell to the family. Brian and I joined Jason and his family for a short sail to West Rous for the night before heading out to the Benjamins the next day. The next morning we all sailed to Gore Bay after which we then went on our separate way.

In Gore Bay, I decided to get a hair cut as I was tired of long hair tickling my face.

We then left Gore Bay to meet up with Jim and Carleen in Frazer Bay in the Horseshoe. We had lots of fun with them. From there we all sailed to the Pool. We hiked the Topaz and swam in the dead lake which no fish or vegetation exist. The water was topaz in colour and very nice to swim. We also picked a lot of blueberries along the path.

Anchoring out of the Pool was existing.  It is a very weedy bottom and we managed to bring up a clump of weeds wrapped around the anchor.  While I was busy picking the weeds off with the boat hook, Brian was filming a turtle that managed to makes its way to our stern, unfortunately, the picture had too much surface glare to be useful.

After a couple of days in the Pool, we set sail for Haywood with Jim and Carleen.  Brian needed to adjust an upper stay.  This required Jim and me to hoist Brian up the mast.

In Heywood, we said goodbye to Jim and Carleen and we started our way back to Sarnia.  Our friend Karen met us in Tobermory to help us the sail to Sarnia.  We spent a couple of days anchored in Dunk's bay waiting for a weather window to travel to Sarnia.

While in Dunk's bay our sausages went bad and Brian decided to toss them overboard thinking they would float away and the seagulls would get them.  To our surprise, they didn't float away......they sunk at the bottom of the lake at our stern.  Since the water was crispy blue and not deep, they were very visible.  So the rumours are, sausages grow at the bottom of the lake in Dunks Bay.  Brian also did a bathing suit rescue for Karen since it went overboard.

The sail to Sarnia was rough as the waves were 6 to 8 feet high.  Although, the winds were awesome.  We managed to do 10 knots with a partially furled Genoa.  The winds eventually died and we had to motor sail for a while.

We arrived in Sarnia at 5am after an uneventful night passage.  Our AIS allowed us to avoid three outgoings, two incoming and 2 anchored freighters.  After a short stay on the fuel dock wall, we were well greeted by our Bridgeview Marina family and joined them for a BBQ and shared stories.

Stay tuned!
